Hey Oz Vegas actually has a really good help feature, Try the "show me how" button or just click on help and type it in, you should find something like this Quote: Creating Slow-Motion Video
If you want to create a slow-motion video effect, hold Ctrl while dragging the edge of the event to time-stretch the event. When video is slowed down, its frame rate will be lower than the project frame rate, and Vegas Movie Studio software will resample the video to produce smooth motion. To ensure video is resampled as needed, set the Resample event switch to Force Resample or Smart Resample. |

the same method can be used for fast forward motion. instead of dragging the selected clip out, hold ctrl and shrink it. would like to know what settings you guys render in? i rendered in: Custom (720x576, 12.500 fps) which is half pal and the clip was 1.2gb when finished. the only way i know how to shrink it for uploading to youtube was to open the finished video in windows movie maker and publish it on a low quality setting there. it ended up 117mb in .wmv file doing it that way, but did something wierd to the dimensions.. |

You should base it on what your cam records at mate, do you know what it is? no point encoding it at 720* if your not shooting in that. |

Hey Blinky Not sure if you'll have all these settings in Vagas, but when you export it, try to make the following settings. They reduce the file size heaps without reducing the quality too much. Keyframes: 30 Data range: 1800 kb/s Tick deinterlace If its HD, the frame size 1280x720 16:9 This should get you 10 mins of HD in a you tube uploadable size. Holly Shite, I just saw they have increased max clip length to 15 mins! |

thanks for the tips guys. just had a couple trial runs rendering/exporting with different setttings to get the file size and aspect ratios better. my utough 8000 records in 640x480 (not the hd model unfortunately) at 30fps. and this setting worked well for me: In the "project video properties" button i put in aspect ratio of : width: 640 height: 480 frame rate 15.000 (multimedia) field order: none (progressive scan) pixel aspect ratio: 1.0000 (square) pixel format: 8-bit deinterlace method: blend fields when i went to "render as" in the file menu i put the following. save as type: sony avc template: internet 4:3 sd 30p that left me with a 105mb .mp4 file (steels rocks vieo) good for uploading to youtube. it is at a sacrafice of frame rate and not as smooth as i'd like but might play with those settings a bit more later. would love to see other peoples efforts you care to share?... |
