G'day
Spearfishing is currently banned on Lord Howe Is. Would be a great place to go. The marine park is up for review. You can easily submit comments here, but be quick, its due Wednesday.

It doesn't take long to bang out something like this.

As I'm sure you would be aware spearfishing has the potential to be the most sustainable form of fishing. When it is carried out responsibly it has no bycatch, causes no habitat damage, needs no bait and is far more selective than any other form of fishing.

If your worried about particular species then protect those species rather than banning the sport.

It is hypocritical to allow people to fish by line and not by spear . I would like to visit Lord Howe one day and see the underwater life but if I can't spear a fish for dinner I will go somewhere I can
