Thanks all for the great turn out last night. 28 present. Its great to see so many fresh faces.
BBQ was well attended (thanks Clint for the preparation)
Thanks Leigh for the gun rigging round table. It looked like you were in your element . More of these type of sessions in the future. What do people want info about ?
Good discussion about pairs rules and as a result I have amended the rules again to read. (now 8 Oct 2014 rules). This will apply from the next comp.
"VALDES PAIRS COMPETITION/ PAIRS COMPETITION
1.The rules for individual spearfishing shall apply except that competitors must use one float with 2 rig cords, consisting of one with a maximum length of 4m and the other with a maximum length of 30m.

2.Float/Plat may be anchored but members of each team may not be more than thirty (30) metres apart.

3.The diver on the surface must remain within 4m of the float/plat and must be holding the tethered line at all time. Each diver shall provide a safety watch over his/her partner.

4.Club series scores for pairs will be calculated from 4 nominated events in the normal club series.

5.Mirror and whistle must be carried by each diver. (not on float) "
This pretty much reverts to what we had before with a few clarifications. It was decided to carry safety gear on each dive to assist in difficult conditions if required.

At this stage (and its still early) conditions are not looking great for Sundays comp however the forecast keeps changing . Saturday may be an option at this early stage. A decision will be made later in the week. Fingers crossed for Sunday.

Dont forget the Western Districts in port Fairy next month as well as the Nationals being run in January next year. Could be a great warm up. I will be in touch with Shipwreck coast about entry points for the nationals and post information when i have it.

Thanks all. AndrewV
