Hi All,

Crays and abs are almost back on the menu!

The crayfish/rock lobster closed season finishes today therefore you are able to recreationally take crays from tomorrow (Thursday 16th Nov) for both males and females.
The current tags you have from the last year are valid till 15th September 2018.

Remember that crays can only be taken by hand and please ensure you are aware of the catch/size limits.

For more info, please visit the VFA website, as follows.
VFA Rock Lobster Tagging
VFA Rock Lobster Catch/Size Limits

Catching abalone in the central zone is allowed from this coming weekend (Saturday 18th November).

The nominated days for taking abalone are as follows.
-Every Saturday, and Sunday, between 16 November and 30 April the following year, inclusive;
-Every Declared Public Holiday in the State of Victoria between 16 November and 30 April the following year;
-25 December through to the second Sunday in January the following year, inclusive.

See below for a map of the central zone.

Please ensure you adhere to catch and size limits and remember that abalone cannot be taken from the inter-tidal zone.

Outside the central zone, you are allowed to take abalone throughout the year, but still need to adhere to catch/size limits.
Also to note, greenlip abalone cannot be taken in Port Phillip Bay at all.

You can contact fisheries on 136 186 to order Cray and abalone measuring devices.

Happy diving and look forward to seeing photos of your catch and how you are cooking it!
