Looks like good smoker:

...bit of a saw dust under the rack, fish on top, cover with the lid and pop on BBQ for 5~10 min!
:)

I highly doubt its a smoker. Where does the fire go? And where are the air holes? And it's stainless steel, which would look awful after a few uses. Smokers are cast iron or enamel plated steel or ceramic.

I want one of those egg shaped ceramic smokers.

Those things are pimp.

A home made version can be made from a deep ceramic pot with an upside down rounded shallow pot for a lid. I guess you need a base with some holes in the bottom a means to change the size of the opening.

Got a small Webber bbq/smoker from BBQ's Galore. $100. Now I don't use my gas bbq... ever. Taste is 100 x better when using charcoal.

It would work as well as any other covered roasting dish. Your idea of putting that dish on the barby would give things a smoky flavour but cooking would happen to quickly.
I got a pretty reasonable hot smoker from Ray's for about $40 that I guarantee would work better. It came with a little metho burner and guess what Raybox, it's made of stainless.
