Hey guys,

Just wondering if there was any kind of edible (and tastey and worthwhile) seaweed that can be taken from the bay or back beaches?

Cheers

Interesting question where to start. My uncle chuck who also was a blue groper told me there about 2000 species of seaweeds in Aus and that the strange two legged creatures above the water use them as a binding ingredient for many foods, drugs, etc. All are edible and supposedly quite good for you. But he warned me makes sure they are from clean water they retain pollutants from the water. So I stay clear as they absorb my crap every time I shit and piss in the ocean. He told me if im desperate to eat the stuff, there are varieties such as phaeophyta (brown algae) and rhodophyta (red algae) which are good to consume don't know what exact species. Hope that helps, but then again its only what i was taught and my uncle chuck was high every time i saw him, too many blue ringed octopus.

Me I'll stick to the crabs.
I got a good business going I've got seven red gropers that work for me. If your interested in half hour it will cost you 4 crabs.

Remember keep your pimp fin strong.

I've tried sea lettuce a couple of times but don't really know the best way to prep it. It's the green one that also goes by Ulva lactuca.

This was my inspiration http://intodepth.com/?p=47

I might try some when I find some in clean water.

Little bit more info for ya.

Doesn't say exact species but a lot of work involved.
