Gday. Im sick and tired of all the plactic bags in the chest freezer! Beef, boar, barra and roo.
Just after peoples thought on the best "Bang for Buck" cryovac?
Because we are remote it would need to be an on-line (AUS) purchase.

let me know what you/mates have and their pros and cons.

Got a cheapie from ebay last year oz and it's still going well, I can get you the name when I'm back from eden. I use the sun beam bags in it, you can get rolls for not too much and they're strong.

cool. yeh understand that good bags are key. but i have seen one machine (years ago) that was "pissweek" and was like sucking a steak through a straw trying to get the air out! going to be handy when i do some weekend trips camping too!

Oz, I would quiz Joseph if I were you. He loves the shit, was just telling me about it in Eden. He suggested a machine around $70. that's all I remember. MMMMM beer!

Hey Oz,
I bought Unika Munro vacuum system. They are not cheap compared to others on the market. Bout $300. The company mainly specializes in commercial units but they have one unit which they sell to the public. The reason i picked this unit was it had a drip tray which the moisture gets sucked into and a 5yr warranty. Other opposition machines have 1 yr warranty and i read about issues from moisture from meat/fish getting into the mechanical parts and stuffing them up.

Big tip freeze or partial freeze your meat/fish before vacuum sealing them up in bags, so there is less moisture and more air is sucked out for a better seal.

Use rolls over ready made bags as it works out cheaper and you can make bags as big as you want and reuse them.

Worked a treat in eden.

ALDI
Wait for the sale, they have it usually twice, three times a year, under $70.
Cheapest bags too!
Had mine for three years and work the shit out of it, pretty much vac everything, either for freezing or just keeping it in the fridge.
Extends life about three times.
Excellent for freezing as the meat doesn't suck up any water. Thawed like fresh.
Vac marinated meat and blanch it in 70 deg water bath in bag! Awesome!
