From now on any post of/about a fish that has been shot before being identified will be deleted! Fish should be identified before "capture!" Could be an endangered species, undersize, inedible etc!

Here you go Squire, like I said in the PM though....It's a "GARFISH" not a Marlin!

Kurt, can you please move this to the "Fish id" thread as a sticky?

I was wondering where that topic went...

How about you still let general threads like: "what species of flathead is this" get put up?

Yeah those type of threads are no worries, just the ones that go along the lines of "Shot this fish but have no idea what it is!"

i recently got the filofish book(for about $38.50 i think), and it has photo's and info on almost every fish in australia. it is the best one i have seen because it has fish that you cant catch on line in it to. :)

I wouldn't bother with the filo-fish book. It has around 650 species in it (out of over 4500 Oz species), and is far from comprehensive, focusing mainly on larger species. Plus most of the pics are of dead fish, which can look quite different to live fish underwater.

Your best off getting a book dedicated to the region you are diving in.
