It's a 'Tope' (school shark) I used to catch quite a few down Wilson's Prom with the larger one's being 4ft+ long. Sensational eating when fresh!
Stick a finger in their mouth and tell me if you'd call them a 'Gummy' :P

It is a Dog Shark, good thing you realeased it as they taste fairly ordinary. They look quite similar to school sharks, however they have the shorter snout and larger eyes. They are also a 'chunkier' shape than the streamlined look of the schoolie.

Galeorhinus galeus.

Dogsharks do not have 2 anal fins.

Wrong head, body and tailfin shape for a Thresher. Thresher sharks also have one large ana fin, and a very small second anal fin.
