we have no idea what this fish is we found this picture of facebook all we know the guy is victorian

any ideas ???

looks like a dusky morwong (butterfish). but thats just a quick look.

Beyond it looking like a dusky, lengthening of the side fins ( mental block on the real name) is characteristic of the morwong family. After that there aren't many morwongs in vic that a long and green.

i didnt spear it prob was speared i noticed 2 holes in it it was from facebook as i stated in my first post

Yes I have had my fair share of them. Although on the regulation hand book the diagram is a sliver color they are commonly found as a dark green such as the one in the topic, also the fin along the spine from the spines to the upper of the tail is a trait of the Dusky Morwong, one of the main give- always is the spots on the tail, along with the shape of the head including the large lips ( but minus that strange growth on the cheek) made it identifiable.
