fucking disaster. Had to go for a dive in my Landcruiser today. Those who live out west will see pics in the local paper no doubt.

Backing the boat in like I always do. Handbrake on and chuck it in first, go to drop the boat of the back and I hear a ping, next thing I know engine is getting pushed backwards and she's on auto pilot down the ramp. I try to scramble back up the ramp but its a fucking slippery algae mess and I start going backwards myself. I manage to get in with water half way up the door and get my foot on the brake but she was skating on the algae and down she went.

The good news is because it's a Toyota and not some poofy Pajero she still lives. changed the oil, gave her a good squirt with the Karcher both in and out, chucked in a fresh battery and she rumbled. Had to kill it straight away because of a few shorts but when she's thoroughly dry it will be the cleanest it's ever been, nearly as good as new.

Been there. Done that. My wife's Freelander after I backed in at Sorrento Boat Ramp. Eventually sank in 2 1/2 metres of water.

cheers Oz but can't be stuffed signing up and I got it well under control. Cleanest it's ever been. The only long term damage looks like being a couple of gauges and a faint aroma of Altona at low tide.

Im guessing you have taken the vinyl or carpet up yeah?

Depending on how long it was under for, you would want to redo wheel bearings and all the diff/gearbox oils if it was just the engine yo did.

the diff and gearbox are made to go under so should be ok but I'll know as soon as i undo the fill bolt on the diff housing. If anything comes out water got in, if nothing comes out then I'm sweet.
As for carpet, it's a BJ mate. Designed to be hosed out.

Fish oil should take care of that Oz. I sprayed 3 cans of rp7 underneath. I should get out of this for a couple hundred.

The diffs and gearbox still have breathers that unless you have modded them will take in water if there under for a while.

Just a thought.
