Hey... still newish and getting bit better at working out locations based on wind. Wind looking pretty low on Sat & sunday and keen to get out at least Saturday.... Whats a good location if its a S- SW? I'm in South East and usually hit Blackrock, Mt Martha or Flinders. I hear bit of squid around Flinders pier so might check out as usually pretty sheltered.

My rule of thumb is normally look at which way the winds heading and see what shore area it's traveling over the top of and dive there, thoe be prepared to go where it's gonna be good. For back beaches look for a low swell day, winds can be ok if under 12 knots so they don't create white caps.

just make sure wherever you dive is sheltered from the wind. for example some days it'll be blowin 30kts but it'll be flat out back due to the wind direction.

also remember if you do hit up flinders, careful of the marine park and stay at least 30m away from the pier. i imagine you would want to anyhow, a squid jig in the back of the neck doesnt doesnt sound like my idea of a good dive
