well our trip started a bit slow as people wanted maccas 15 mins before we were set to depart, and portland maccas decided theylld have trainee day so it was well over 15mins for food!(glad i had a jar of fruit) once we were out the harbour we had extremly awsome conditions with 2m swell at max, with no wind that i could see. we had one hook up on a rod bout an hour or a bit more into trolling and handfulls of pillies were straight over the back in the hope any other fish in the area would be hungry as well, kiwi and Jaws were first in, but didnt sight any fish in the 15 mins they were swimming around. we continued out to the shelf with still no sight of fish. the skipper got a call to say there were fish at the 192m line so we trolled in to that depth and started a drift with a nice cube trail started, then got another call that there had been a 5-6ft mako heading our way so i stopped cubing and geared up eager to see something. guys on the boat kept the berley trail going so we were sweet, flashers in the water also and still nothing showed up. decided to do a few drops, and got down to 18.7 metres and was looking around when i got a tap on the shoulder and to my amaze turned around to see Brad sitting behind me! i made sure i kept a good eye on him on our way back up just incase he had any troubles but he was ok. spoke with Scotty and he said he got a 20.3metre drop done so i was feeling abit let down with my attempt only being 1.3m off 20! so i had another breath up and down i went, i stopped at 20 and had a look around, holding onto my float line it felt as thoe it was getting tugged from the surface so i checked my dive watch once more and it read 22.2m with alarms ringing on it i decided illd go up. eager to see some of the pics and stories the other guys have to put up so i wont say any more...just over the moon with my efforts at over 20m
hopefully Brett, Scott and Brad will have time to sort thru their pics and put them up
