Early stages of organising a spearing trip with some of the fellas, just throwing it out there as to where to go!

Criteria are potential for some bigger fish, spots accessible from shore (even though i may take the ducky along) and no futher then 5 hours from melb as its just a weekend.

Of course its going to be weather dependant but just intrested as to what your choices might be. :P

After a recommendation and doing a little research Bitangabee Bay is looking like a good place to set up in Eden, will just sleep in the back cab of the hilux (which fits a queens size matress beleive it or not  ) at the Bittangabee campgrounds.

Anyone dived much around that particular area? What can I expect fish wise any safety related info I should know?

I think there's still a couple of vids on YouTube that I made whilst staying at Bittangabee Bay! Not the best vids but they'll give you a good idea of what to expect!

I've dived all the spots I mentioned, some a long time ago. Bitangabee bay does have a camp ground. As per many awesome spots on the planet it is now regulated as to how many people can stay at one time. There is a charge (although I haven't looked it up) per person per night I believe. When I last visited there was no fresh drinking water or a toilet. Someone may have been recently however, have more updated info. It was a take everything you need to survive (beer & BBQ) escape!

Species I've seen, Kings, bonito, morwong, salmon, etc. Cheers!

There is a toilet but no drinkable water. There is a good under cover spot with 2 bbq's which i cant remember weather you pay or just press the button.

If your going in any holiday season you would have to book. Mate has already booked and payed for our site in Jan quite a while ago. We have also been off peak as such and i don't think that we payed or booked for the camping but did pay for the car...

As Random said any peak time it is hard to get a spot there. I have already booked for Jan lol.. Its great diving though!! This time of year, if it is just yourself you may get away with waiting until the ranger comes around and just say that you turned up today and your happy to pay.. Its 10/night per person.. and there is a fee for you car too i think $22.
Its great as there is always somewhere to dive depending on the wind direction. But yeah city rocks the Bay out and around if calm enough.. Previous times I have speared great trumpter, blue morwong, Salmon..
enjoy let us no how you go???
