It is not legal to spear in an enclosed rock pool. So don't.

lol yeah I also doubt you will find a spearable fish in a rock pool. If your just starting out on the back beaches try and line a dive up with someone of the forum you will learn a heap and get some tips on where to dive.

Sorrento back beach to the right behind the man made one, pearse rd, st johns wood the list goes on. If you go to almost any back beach and walk around at low tide you'll find some. No spearing but good fun, have been guilty of a sneaky one on a washed out day or two. Camera always. Look hard enough and you'll find there are some real big ones with enough depth to make you forget you're not in the ocean.

there are a few pools around that have openings and if you do decide to jump in and give it a go still be very careful. due to it being a large body of water filling and emptying into a larger body of water through a narrow gap (much like PPB), they tend to have some pretty nasty currents and you can get sucked out, and for an inexperienced diver this can be pretty scary.
