Hi Everyone

I'm heading too Phillip island for the week and taking the spearfishing gear with me.
This will be the first time spearing at the island and was wondering if anyone can give me some recommendations on shore based dives.

for e.g. I was thinking of first trying the west side of smiths beach.
I'm a heavily safety conscious person and would rather a safe dive then a risky one with lots of fish.

I would really appreciate if anyone can give me some guidance on a safe dive location at the island.

Cheers Aaron Boss.

Pyramid rock :) bit of a walk/trek down to the water but its worth it(not a dangerous one either) you'll see the path leading off to the right off the main path on the way to the look out.

Thanks for the reply Marmo.

Went to pyramid rock today and the spot looks fantastic. was a little tricky trying to find the path down to the shore.
unfortunately missed the opportunity to get wet today as I was not prepared to dive alone. however conditions were perfect apart from the rain, was greeted with low swell and offshore winds.

Cant wait to go back

Yesterday I went for a quick dive at Flynn's beach, another great spot on the island plenty of quality species, KGW, flatties and big Wrasse.

Cant wait to go back.

I just did Red Rocks and Newhaven on the weekend.

Red Rocks looked pretty good from what I could see I had bad vis but it was all weed beds so the name did let me down!

Newhaven was pretty terrible.. too much mud wouldn't go there again :)
