Dived the bay tonight (first night dive). Quite calm. Quite cold. Quite dark.

Tested the new torch out in the water (BigBlue VTL3100P) - works a treat. Found heaps of squid so that's a good sign. Found a nice snook and then got harassed by a decent sized seven gill shark. As i was swimming away from him i spooked a big snapper sleeping in the weeds, gutted. You know its a big snapper when you hear the *whoosh* of its tail as it swims away!

Worth investing in a good torch and checking the bay out at night- crazy amount of fish life come out at night!

I checked out the crab aggregations at Blairgowrie today. David Attenborough (aka Dr Illingworth) has been helping a UK camera crew capture the moulting and predator action, and put me straight onto them. Plenty of other divers there, mostly on scuba. Only fish seen were small salmon and trevs hitting the scraps as stingrays grabbed crabs. the discarded shells look like a mass grave but they are shells only, not corpses.
Spectacular if you have never seen this before, they are in 4-8m depth close to the marina, should be there for a week or two but the big masses are breaking up. Water was 12 deg.

Had a leisurely dive this morning. Vis 10m clear. Temp 14C. Good to see lots of fish around must be sign that warm water is not far around the corner. Compared to previous dives saw plenty of fish incl Large Dusky Morwong, leatherjackets, loads of goatfish, Trevally, pinkies, sml squid, zebs, gars, etc.
No decent Pinkies came in, shot a 30cm Trev, not big enough for VC and a decent goatfish.

Went for dive today thought it may have been alright. Unfortunately water was dirty. Lucky to get 3m. Anyway thought id give it a shot seeing i was already out there.
Berleyed up, had some fish come in but the first fish i lined up was a Trev. Shot the trev and as i was pulling it in saw a big stingray tail. By the time i came back my berley bag was gone. Tried looking for the ray but vis got worse and no sign of any fish. Went back to my area but fish were too flighty and no berley to keep them around.
End of dive.
On the plus side fresh Sashimi Trev went down a treat.

Went for a dive today with Paul & Marcus.
Good day diving, tried a variety of spots due to Vis being variable.
Water 14c. Found some fish.
After i got my bag of squid did some hunting for kgw.
The boys also ended up doing pretty well.
