Got down to the island with Carly at 7:30am. Was hoping with light westerlies that I had seen on seabreeze and two other sites the day before that I might get a few hours in. Next to no wind at the island just a light onshore less than 7knt N to NW wind. Unfortunately too much swell even though swell was 1.3m on seabreeze and magic seaweed.

Went to Inverloch and dived Anderson's Inlet for the very first time with my improvised hand spear (two prong no barbs).
Water was calm but to much sediment in the water column vis was 1-1.5m. After 15mins and covering 200m drifting with the incoming tide 2-4m deep pulled the plug.

Went to Cape Paterson and it was pretty messy but really wanted to get in the water. So only i jumped in, but again Vis was shit barely 1-2m. Only saw a few fish couple of Zebs a sml and a big one, x1 LJ and a large fish approx 0.5m sitting on a rock that started to bolt went it saw me. Lined it up but didnt take the shot as i couldnt make it out. Most likely a quality fish such as Polish kingfish or a Sea Carp.. Ended up getting out after about 40mins after being annoyed with vis and swimming against rips.

Geoff

Squat swell and medium 3-5m viz. LJs, Maggies, Boaries, Blue throats, big drummer, trevs, salmon and trumpeter. Heaps of klife out there!

Y.C.W today at 1pm, me and a mate jumped in. Vis was decent, north west winds meant beach was nice and protected.

Ended up with a 30cm + sweep and a 35cm Luderick.

I missed the biggest sweep I have ever seen :( it was facing me eyes to eyes and to thin to shoot then just vanished..

Looks more like a Zebra fish mate. Luderick have thinner stripes.

Nice eating in the sweep though.

Well done!

Went camping at Wilson prom this weekend..

Was terrible conditions on both the Friday and Saturday.

Got 3 fish that looked a bit like bream but had dark stripes down their back

Hey guys
I ve diving down the prom during the long weekend....
Being the first time and diving alone....I v n t been that far from the coast line...Just getting familiar with the new area
What i can say about the prom It s what a joy to see a viz of roughly 10min of blue water....
Took abs and a wrasse ( turn up to be not bad at all cooked with spices and stuff...).

Anyway a bit cold but happy to be back and also so a good eagle ray sleeping at the bottom she was amazing....

Get this book Raymhigh. It's probably the best one to ID fish.

Raymhigh
Bit hard to see on my phone and now i can only see the first fish and its the 2nd time writing this message. :x technology!
From what i previously saw 1st fish Purple wrasse also known as black parrot, 2nd fish Marble fish also known as Southern Sea Carp and 3rd fish Herring Cale.

The book that greg mentioned is a good one and not to expensive.

Happy spearing
