The west can still be fun even when it's rough, couldn't raise a tuna on the rod so went for a quick dive

The end to the cray season - Port Fairy Sep 2015

Day 1
Watto picks me up after "Silly Saturday" for my football club (Drinking from 9am - 8pm, then going to Nightclub #1 for 1 hour of free drinks, and then moving onto another nightclub until 2am) from the docklands at 2:15am for a departure to port fairy. After a good 3 hour sleep in the car by yours truly, we arrived at port fairy to good conditions (a bit of chop / swell) and a beautiful sunrise. We quickly (watto was quick, i was slow) put on our gear and headed down to the local hot spot in hunt for crays. After a few females were pulled and returned home by the two of us, i eventually found a good little male and it was 1-0 to the prospect. After the chop (and copious amounts of alcohol the previous day) got the better of me, i fell asleep on the rocks for an hour whilst Watto hunted on and managed a good cray as well, and it was 1-1. I was awoken to the tide coming in and wave crashing over me  - i also got sunburnt, which must mean that the weather is turning it on! 8)

Quick stop at the bakery for lunch and i flick a text to the best from the west, Mac Riddle, and he invites us out on the almighty Kraken for a cray hunt, as well as some sweep / trumpeter. Watto pulled another little fella and the score was 2-1. The dynamic duo, Mac and Pete Riddle put us to shame with two nice 2.5kg crays. We dashed over and shot a few trumps and sweep and then we set sail for home.

Day 2
Watto and myself headed to another hot spot in hunt for whiting, but they were a bit skittish (probably due to me kicking 40mph trying to stalk them  ) so we decided to go hunt for crays. After a short while we managed to bag another with a great team effort. Watto took the port fairy cray trip out with a score of 3-1.

All in all, a ripper weekend and a great way to end the cray season! :P - Huge thanks to the Riddles for the boat trip, and the accommodation - as well as Watto for enduring my non-sense talk about a girl i pulled at the nightclub on saturday!

Diving the Otways. Over 2kg, under 1kg for the small cray and snapper. Would be better out tomorrow.

Got in on the west coast Monday also. Was a very hazy 4m vis. Fortunately I swam straight to a known hole. Pulled two Crays in about 35min then off to another job. Might have been fish about but it was to dirty to see much. Few large Zebs and jackets about.
My hole had about 15 Crays of all sizes. A 3+kg model hiding well out of reach down the back.

Strong E winds made for flat seas. Diving old ground and new ground. A number of choices and a couple of keepers. Great vis. Will be even better tomorrow (Tuesday).

Nice Crays guys :) - on the weekend I dived in Sunny Adelaide, I dived Noarlunga reef and jetty. Great spot by Vic standards (heaps of fish, some depth, good vis and just jump straight off the jetty) Also did some a pool and EQ workshop with Alexey Molchanov, very interesting. Heaps of nice people over in Adelaide.

I was going to put some photos up but I have lost the will to live attempting to do so....

EDIT :(Maybe should have put this in SA - but SA is west of PPB....)

got out wide with Blacky on some nice lumps on Sunday. 20m+ vis. could easily see each other on the bottom in 18m. Shot some nice sweep, squid and salmon. Grabbed some big green lip abs. Flashed all day for kings but no joy there. Plenty of bait around and some big reefies. Took home a good feed and was very enjoyable hunting in clear warm water......... and yes, we saw a few of the rare endangered protected comeback kings the western blue groper.
