There is new fisheries officers in Apollo Bay. I know coz I went for the job. lol could just be rookies trying to get head strong? Most/some illegal fishing goes on dusk till dawn. When they work a 9 to 5 its a bit of a joke! key is don't fuck up or don't get caught. 8)

Headed out Wednesday with a couple of lads. Dove some lumps out wide in 15-18m which produced a small king for Brett on a hand spear! Yes it was size (by 2cm). Went in close for a cray bash, managed our bag. Good conditions and great fun.

My catch

Thanks for getting the forum up and running again lads.

Here's some pics from the past few weeks. I haven't found many target species around through April. Always plenty of crays about though.

Pic in esky is from today. Flat ocean but 4-5m vis max. Pissed down rain but had a nice couple of hours in the water. Water temp is well and truly on the decline. Around 17 today. By weeks end I wouldn't be surprised if it dropped another 1-2...god damn it

Good job Jordan. that's not positive news about the water temp, may have to see myself getting a 5mm suit to withstand the colder months :x

Brett ONLY managed the best 3 fish in Victoria, haha nice work.
was this at Portland ?
:P

Day 2 with Aaron 2hr boat ride out from Port fairy. caught plenty of albacore on line, but didnt see any in the water until 30mins before "head for home" time. Finally got one after 2 days trying. Big thanks to Aaron for taking us out for 2 days, and to Brett and Christian for scaring away my fish one day 1! and thanks to Christian and Clare for letting us stay over Sunday night(big ask when you have 3 young kids to consider). Its a different style of spearfishing when you spend most of your time in the boat, and when you do get in, you either see a few tuna, or nothing but clear blue water. (albacore weighed 12.4kg)

Shithot. Congrats lads - not many have speared SBT and albacore in Victorian waters. Amazing fish
