It isnt listed in the Vic Recreational Fishing guide, which means you have a bag limit of 5 AFAIK... Id suggest to call 136 186 (DPI info line) to make sure |

I got one at Qcliff a couple years back and it wasn't my first. They come in every now and then but nothing like the size of the NSW ones. |

Blue Groper can be found anywhere. I have seen them as close as mornington and as far as Port Fairy. The Western Blue Groper female is green, while the Eastern is Brown. They don't grow to a large size here. 3.5kg is about as big as we've seen. Phillip Island or West Coast would be your best bet. |

Gday lads I speared a Western Blue Groper over the western side of Port Phillip Bay about a month ago. It was a fair way into PPB as well. It went 1.39kg. Koops loved it and commented "Brett would be proud". Good white flesh, good tucker. The Western Blue Groper are common in the west of the state. Sea Fishes of Southern Australia says that the boundary for them is PPB. Some nice fish have been speared east of PPB though. cheers |
