i dont really see the problem, everyone should be able to get a feed every now and then. Still have bag limits to stick to.Think its pretty narrow minded by a few of you!

yeah same here really... i think its less sporting but not wrong... like i mean think about people that have the maximum amount of hooks on with the maximum amount of rods... and heavy line.. like i mean i rekon thats a hell of alot less sporting coz as soon as you hook the fish it pretty much has no chance.

niether of which i think is wrong, but personally i wouldnt do coz its no fun!

like i mean, wtf r u ranting on bout now?
if u hook a fish it has no chance? lest u can put it bak in tha water, once u spear one its game ova. like i mean..

I'm a bit split with regards to scuba vs freediving for spearing, there are arguments for both being more 'sporting.' Take large gamefish/sportfish for example, virtually all freediving spearos will be using floatlines and floats, on scuba it is generally only reel, thus you actually have to fight the fish as opposed to letting the float do all the work. Obviously on scuba, however, you have somewhat greater access to deeper dive sites (although you must also keep in mind that scuba is limited by blood nitrogen, so while you may get a bottom time of 30 mins, you then can't dive again for the rest of the day, you may actually be able to get more 'spearing' time while freediving despite the short bottom intervals).

Each to their own IMO, personally I dont think I could be bothered organising all the gear such as tanks, and lugging it all around for scuba.

in my scuba experience you are not able to get close enough to good/ high quality table fish they are spooked by the bubbles. if you have a closed circit re-breather thats another story. let the bubblies do their thing and they will realise they see/spear more fish freediving. not common spearing on scuba in vic. they usualy like to take photos nothing else.....

For me its 50/50 I fell that freediving is more for fishing were scuba is more for tests, photos and things alike. While I fell not all people spearing on scuba are able to freedive for what ever reasion. You have to keep in mind that theay still share the same bags and size limits as do the rest of us do. Also keep in mind thay have there pros and cons just like us.

talk about a heated debate.....
Honestly, who really cares? most are 50/50 but does it really make a difference? we could all argue about this all day.
such as we could all bicker about whether spearfishing is cruel or not.....does it matter? no.
we spear because it is fun and provides food. As long as we obey the laws, it does not matter how we achieve this purpose.

Immature are pointless arguments that prove f**k all
