Had a walk yesterday arvo now the access tracks are drying up. Got this little fucker and let the rest walk for Easter BBQ. (.243) one shot bold the little bugger over. Mum and other suckers didn't know what happened stood around for 1 min. I almost had time to get the camera out of the bag to take some pictures of them all looking up at the heavens. The solo haul out to the Toyota was a killer in 40 degree heat and humid as hell!
cheers
oZ.

Gday again, great to see all the winners of the SFD club events. Congratulations :P.
Im still living in the bush, catching barra (not many lately) and shooting pigs. Hanging to get in the water again.
Today I felt was a turning point in my pig hunting. Having successfully nailed 2 pigs out to 300 yards!
I have been very hesitant to pull the trigger on my .243W at anything over 100m. The first piggy went straight down.(to the market) with a solid heart shot . the other I managed to blow both his feet off :| .
I was stalking a dried up creek bed and the wind turned on me from the south and fucked my cover. Low and behold 4 pigs got up from the scrub and trotted off. I scrambled down to their level in the river bed, used a tree branch to steady and pulled the trigger. BOOM!..... followed by some frantic reloading and discharging of bullets.
The pigs were not taken for their meat because they had been feasting on their brother from 2 weeks before.(see pic) shot in the eye at 30m! 8)
Im going to mis this shit when I come back to the big smoke!
cheers
oZ

Those hooks on the first pig look mean
Some serious boars there! We are trying to get a 100kg+ set of scales for some of these beasts. Would love to get a 4x4 quad up here would be the way to go. I personally don't enjoy the dogs side of things much. if something happened to our camp dogs the miss would not be happy. I don't like the poor bastards (pigs) squeeling their ass off while getting thrashed to shit. Heaps of loose ex pig dogs on the station. Just got a spot light to try eradicate some.
Im living on 1,000,000 Acres cattle farm in the Kimberley, place called Noonkanbah Station.
cheers

i used to only shoot them aswell. but got introduced to hunting with dogs and was hooked. something about watching a dog doing what its breed to do is sometihng special. Just a few people that cant control their dogs that wreck it for everyone. pretty lucky living on a station mate good stuff.
