We went for a dive at Popes Eye on Australia Day from 3.30pm to 5.30pm. It was an Ebb tide which was handy as it made conditions outside the wall nice. The tide was running out pretty quickly still so there were clear patches and filthy patches for the whole time. It really was constantly changing all the time. So I got to practice being in a fast moving current and trying to hold position. I enjoyed being whizzed down the side of the structure a couple of times by the strength of the current. There were many fish seen including large leatherjackets, old wives, magpie perch, sweep, wrasse, a friendly enough seal and noisy Gannets! Loved the dive for the opportunity to get some good photos and get some dive practice in without having to worry about carrying spearguns and all the rest of the gear.

Popes is a nice dive. I've done ~10 dives at popes, never disappointed. Were you on bubbles or freediving? |

Yes just free diving. I don't own any scuba gear. I've been thinking of doing scuba for the last 15 years but just never ever get around to doing it. |
