I live in Mornington, are there any freedive or spearing courses around here or even up towards the city that are good and don't cost an arm and a leg?

Apnea Australia (Erez / Marlon) - Strongly recommend. Check out their website for stage A courses - they seem to be running them pretty frequently down here at the moment.

Hi redbullah,

I'll be taking you through the course on 26/27 April and more detailed information will be distributed to participants in the week and days before the course to confirm the specifics. This course is planned as a metro-Melbourne course with open water dives departing from the Bellarine or Mornington Peninsula.

Generally speaking though, we have the ability to run a couple of course locations. For metro-Melbourne, the theory and pool components are held in the inner south-eastern suburbs, e.g. Prahran/Bentleigh and the open water session will depart from either Queenscliff or Sorrento. For the Mornington Peninsula courses, we'll run the whole weekend at Rye or thereabouts. The open water sessions really depend on the prevailing weather conditions at the time.

You can expect the course (Stage-A, 2.5 Day course) to run in this format:
Friday - Evening Theory session
Saturday - Morning Theory, Afternoon Pool session
Sunday - Morning Theory, Afternoon Open Water dive

It's an intense weekend in a lot of ways, but aimed at providing you with a really solid foundation of information and practical experience to take away and keep building on.

Cheers and looking forward to meeting you.

Marlon

All the best for a safe and fruitful summer of diving. Hope to see you in the water!
