Hi Guys,
I am wondering if it would be worth my while changing and adding an extra wrap of shooting line to my gun?
I am using a Torelli 120, with twin 16mm Rubbers, 7mm shaft, S/S shooting line (Single wrap) and a 150mm bungee.
I mainly target, Reefies but we do get a fair few kings and i have found myself wishing i had a bit more range on my gun!

Would it be worth adding an extra wrap?
Getting a reel maybe?
What Material? Mono, Dyneema? or stick with S/S?

Cheers!

How many experienced divers do you see with a double wrap?
By SS I'm guessing stainless steel. Why?

Use one wrap of mono and get closer (like everybody else). 120 cm barrel + 170 cm spear plus the three 120 cm lengths of mono in a single wrap is already a massive range. If you are serious about the stainless line I hope you have a plan for when a kingfish running hard for the bottom wraps it around your ankle.

Okay, so single wrap it is!
Well my gun came with stainless line! Sounds like it's not the best?
Thanks for your input!
What pound mono?

I have a 1100 Torelli, with two 16mm rubbers and a 1.6m, 7mm shaft and have 2 wraps in 2mm (400lb) mono. Thats 7 odd meters of shooting range.

Initially when I had a single wrap, I found myself wanting for a slightly longer range in blue water, but now Im hunting a fair bit of reef I am getting pretty sick and tired of sharpening the spear tips.

Im starting to think I should bite the bullet and get shorter shaft with a single wrap for reef hunting.

Something to think about anyway.

Regarding the stainless line, that sounds a little nasty, and Im with Kiwi-Scott on this one, things could get pretty interesting if it wraps around your ankle... I know my dive knife has a line cutter on it if things turn bad.

Thanks for the input guys!
I'm kind of hunting reef and semi blue water, I think I'm just going to get another gun so I can have one for reef and one for deeper stuff!
