They are a similar shape in the same sense that a 50 year old car or motorbike is a similar shape to modern examples despite being radically different in all other aspects.

I'm sticking by my comment: within 5 years or so all the major brands will have a gun of this type* in their range, be it good, bad or otherwise.

*carbon, hydrodynamic, monocoque.
