Hey Fellas,
Selling my beloved Achilles SGX 3.65m Inflatable w/ Mercury 25HP motor. Boat is fantastic out in the water, could not sink it with water to the brim. Took it out in 2m swells from Twofold Bay in Eden to Mawarry Point, then back with 30+ kilos of fish, used three quarters of a tank. Gives you an idea of fuel usage. In the four days we were there the motor started first or second pull every morning. If not used for a while might take 4-5 pulls to get it going. Was a surf life saving motor so it was used for one surf season, then sold off for safety reasons (they want them to go perfectly every time). The guy at Jan Juc told me the motor had never been dunked, and I believe him from the way it has run. After every use, it is flushed with fresh water and sprayed inside with WD40. Also took out the shaft and cleaned out the impeller etc. of sand about six months ago.
The boat comes with a waterproof bag for bits and pieces (phones, wallet etc) worth 50 bucks, a 25L Quicksilver Plastic Fuel Tank and Hose, two lifejackets, two oars which strap into the side of the boat. The straps on the other side are perfect for attaching your spearguns (make sure they have a rubber tip on them around the boat). The boat also comes with a packet of flares, a foot pump (with adapter for valves) and fire extinguisher. Also included are a repair kit for the boat with patches etc, a set of bunny ears for flushing the motor and a sand anchor with chain and about 20m of rope. I also left the five valves on the beach at Flinders last year, so I had to buy 5 new ones. The Achilles distributor ripped me off for about 40 bucks a valve. I currently have the five new valves, and two spares which come with the boat. The motor comes with a bracket to hold the motor up, but I never bothered to put it on as I was spearfishing and didn't mind getting wet.
The boat sits on the waves perfectly, and as I mentioned earlier can be full of water and still stay up due to air volume. It is made of high-grade Hypalon which is the best material for inflatable boats available on the market. The Achilles boats are highly regarded, as I am sure people will attest to, and are used by the large majority of surf life saving clubs in Australia. It takes about 20 minutes to setup on the beach. I usually drive down to the Flinders pier, set it up next to the pier and carry the motor down and put it on the transom in the water. This boat does not come with a trailer, and must be pumped up and put into its bag (about 1.5-2m long, and half a meter wide) which weighs about 50 kg. I can carry the bag on my own, but easier with two people. The motor weighs around 55kg from memory. As outlined earlier, in terms of fuel I have launched at Flinders and gone past Fingal beach a number of times and used about 3/4 of a tank of fuel.
I would like for the buyer to come down and check out the boat, I have it pumped up in the garage at the moment, and it is easy to pull out and have a look at. The motor is also ready to be looked at, and we can hook it up to the tank and get it going when you get here, so you can see it pumping water well and starting nicely. I live in Drouin, 100km east of Melbourne.
Price is $3700 ONO.
I do not use these forums much, so if you can please PM me or call me on 0432 472 776 or 03 56 251 696 with any questions that would be great.
