Planning on doing a dive there on Thursday.

Anyone got any idea of viz? Swell looks to be 1m or so. Not overly pleasant but maybe ok?

Nice to see you on the forum Shadow.

From memory we've had some large swell, plus the rain in bucket-loads and not to forget the fairly powerful wind.

Can't say your likely to get great vis, 5 - 7 meters and most likely hazy?

Some of the guys who frequent the back beaches and ocean will most likely have a better idea.

Kurt.

cheers!

5-7 is plenty, its the 2-3m viz I had last time I object to.

Some scubies have been claiming 20m viz a few weeks ago, so hopefully theres not too much plankton around.

havent had a substantial swell for to long, the swell hasnt been that big at all we havent had a solid swell for weeks. we had one day that got to about 5ft on the beaches but that was 4 days ago now i think. we had 3-4ft yesterday moderatly calm conditions, today is 3-4ft shit waves but calm conditions and tomorrow is looking to be around the 3ft mark with light winds in the morning possibly northerly with sea breeze later in the day and calm conditions. the back beaches will be ok tomorrow, but better early saturday id say. tomorrow i wouldnt be able to be exact cos i dont dive the schank very often i prefer the ocean beaches, but id probably say 5m vis no chance of gettin anything round 15-20. NO chance. shouldnt be a bad dive though.

just check www.swellnet.com.au then click mornington peninsula

also check www.triggerbrothers.com.au and the flinders surf cam will give you an idea.

for a fair idea of the swell size keep an eye on the swellnet forecast theyre generally pretty accurate. also to check if we have a big swell coming in the next week have a look at the margret river report in WA the swell size over there gives you a general idea of what it will be like here in about 4-5 days down the track because all of our solid groundswells come from the west. another good site to keep tabs on what the groundswell is doin in www.coastalwatch.com.au and check their swell annimations theyre pretty good too.

weeeelll..

conditions werent too flash. 4-5m viz, 1-2m swell.

But fun was ahad by all, especially when trying to clamber up the rocks to get back in. I feel so lucky to not be smeared across the rocks right now...

My dive buddy got his first boary, so a good day.
