Haven't tried flying with my dive gear for a while, but I use to carry my weight belt in carry on luggage. Anyone know if you can still get away with that? Flying jetstar who have a max carry on weight of 10kg.
Thanks

To save any Headaches i'd give them a call ... I had asked a similar question a few years ago and couldn't take something onto the plane and the person dropping me off had already left so the item went into the bin ...

As long as you dont go over the 10 kg or they wont allow you to carry it on, the weights should be fine I travel with a 12 kg tool bag in checked luggage all the time but if you go over 20kg on jet star they sting you. 32 kg (an extra 12kg) cost me $110.00 from Mackay two weeks ago  , it cost nothing on the way there with Qantas

I heard Jetstar is not taking any gear over 180cm anymore. Or maybe it was virgin?

Definately worth checking up on.

After getting my uncles old weight belt from Sydney, it was quite amusing watching it being put on the plane... I had a window seat so could see them loading bags on, the loader nearly fell over because of how much he underestimated the weight of the bag!

i was not allowed at xmas to take my weights on as "it could be used as a weapon" i think it will be up to the person at security scan whether you can or can't ,as this is the person which prevented me not the airlines , as long as you come under their weight policy

He was probably a diver or a mate of one. I had a 150mm steel ruler confiscated that I have traveled with all over the country and the blokes face changed when I folded it in half before placing it in the bin Corrupt prick!
