I was diving at Cape Paterson last week. I focus mainly on snapper, but lots of things come in to investigate the berley. This time I saw a group of bloody big scad. The largest fish was about 60cm in length. At first I thought it was a kingfish, but then I got a look at its head.
It was bigger than koheru I have seen in NZ. It was a lot bigger than any scad I have ever seen before.
The fish came in close enough for me to line it up. I didn't want to spook any possible snapper, so I didn't take the shot.
Anybody know what the record is for scad?
