Heading upto eildon after Easter and looking for somewhere to camp. Have never camped up there before. I wanna be right on the waters edge, I'm taking the boat up and wanna leave the boat moored In the water when I'm not using it. Anyone no a good camp ground or do I just rock up there and camp where ever. Also I don't wanna be surrounded by people. Thanks nassi.

when you say you wanna be on the waters edge do you mean the lake or one of the many rivers? there are plent of free campsites to rock up to on rivers but from the best of my knowledge most of the ones on the lake are either proper campsites or donation type, run by rangers

Jerusalem creek, went for a drive around that area last year and it looked nice for camping. Good luck finding anywhere that doesn't have people already. As it is Easter, bring jousting sticks and prepare for a dual over any free spots.

If you want to do some hunting there make sure you check the maps on the DPI website. If you want to be able to hunt from camp chuck all your gear in your boat and launch from Jews Creek or Goughs bay and head up the Big river arm and find a camp site. Because of the high water level at the moment there isn't many good camping spots (that are flat) to choose from but you might be lucky.

From the DPI website
•Lake Eildon National Park: In certain sections in the south-east of the park, Sambar Deer may be hunted from the first Saturday after Easter until 30 November. The use of dogs to hunt deer is not permitted. Pest animals and other species must not be hunted.
