Have this ringing in my ear and it wont go away. It started 2 weeks ago half way through the Valdez comp, no pain but when I got out of the water my balance was off. It went after a few hours. Then last Saturday the same thing happened except this time the ringing wont go. Went to the doctor and he prescribed antibiotics to see if that cleared it up but it's still the same.

Has this happened to anybody before??

I'll give it one more day on the antibiotics and if it doesn't clear I'll go back to the doctor.

I've never had this before but it might pay to insist the doctor refers you to a specialist.

Go see a dive doctor Fitzy. If you want to claim on Medicare you will need a referral letter from your GP.

Make sure you a dive related doc. I spent a heap of time going to specialists only to be given the same advice as my GP but paying more for it. I also had a drama with doctors not being able to understand what we do. (Note -being carefull not to be racist).

Needed referral from GP. I saw Dr John Silver - Hawthorn East. He was great, knows the distinction between one breath diving and bubbleheads. Older guy but switched on. Mainly does Dive Medicals.

My visit was slightly different I needed to get a dive medical to do a "freediving course" but i also wanted to see if i could scuba again as I had bilateral pneumothorax (both lungs punctured). Freediving no issues as i suspected gave me med clearance letter. Sent me to get CT scan of my lungs. He said that technically i should be okay but if i was to have a issue (eg rapid ascent or breath holding) i might be in more trouble due to scar tissue on lungs. For insurance purposes he gave no medical for scuba.

Didn't charge me a cent :P

Had something similar a few years ago, it hung around for a couple of weeks then went on its own. "Tinnitis" rings a bell but not sure if that was what I had or something I researched? Google it!

Yeah see a proper ENT doc Fitzy, Bretts one is closer to you probably but I'll give you mine up here if you want. You have tinnitus, all sorts of things can cause it but an infection is one. GPs know stuff all about ears, yours probably gave you the wrong antibiotics (mine did too). The ENT will also be able to rule out a perfed eardrum (which you probably don't have - no pain).

Maybe it was sabotage Scotty!

According to google my ear is going to fall off and I'm going to have a slow and painful death so I've booked in with the rosebud doc for Friday.

The smell from the dive flag was only supposed to scare the fish away not make you go see a Proctoearologist!

Where are the moderaters before this topic turns really shitty!

If you were out of balance than you may have a “vertigo” problem.
