Hi everyone. Going to be at Portland on 6,7,8 & 9th of April. Main reason is tuna fishing with rod & reel. But also willing to try some spearing.Being completely unfamiliar with the area have no idea where to dive. Any recommadation for some safe spots around there? Thanks in advance. |

Thanks Brett..By 'Horseshoe' , do you mean the Bridgewater bay or Nelson bay? Or are you talking about that famous offshore horseshoe reef system? |

38.42 141.23 you might have a bit of trouble touching the bottom, actually the tuna and albacore have started to thicken up in that area the past week and if I read your post earlier I would have made the effort to contact you. I catch around fifty albacore and tuna a year on rod and reel, and this year want to have a crack at spearing some. A lot of times you will have them on the surface feeding at the back of the boat. |

Was at Portland on 6-7-8 & 9th.On 7th had a ball on tuna and albies. On 8th tried to dive from breakwall but visibility wasn't that good, but very close to rocks there were heaps of sweeps, magpie perch, trumpeter and pinkies. On the same day drove to Cape Bridgewater and dived.Again very bad vis.Funny thing on me last day Cape Bridgewater was crystal clear but no time to dive! Over 3-4 days only seen small pinkies captured from wall.
