Breathing is Overrated

Odd how scallop stocks disintegrated significantly in recreational areas prior to the FAL's being dished out. I saw a few commercially registered vessels on the Capel Sound banks which is a 'closed to commercial fishing' area. The way fisheries allocated the licensing was a disgrace. Overall I am not confident that commercial scallop harvesting is a good idea in port Phillip bay. NO support from me.

As far as I am aware, fisheries have no idea what causes the massive variation in scallop spawning in PPB. One year there can be heaps about and another year piss poor. How is it reasonable to fire up a commercial fishery which was once devastated when the life cycle of the fish is not understood? We are seeing good snapper back in the bay thanks to the cessation of dredging. Can we leave it the f%#k alone.
