Post subject:  2017 May Meeting

Hi All,

Was another fun meeting last night and was good to see a few new faces too.

We discussed;
- Upcoming presentation night
- Next months Southern Freedivers AGM. Reminder that only SFD members can vote!
- Reminded everyone that the Earlybird offer for AUF/SFD memberships is now available for July 2017 to June 2018 dive season
- Review of Diver Safety flags for Southern Freedivers competitions for next season
- Reminded everyone that the VIC challenge will be concluding for this season on 6th June 2017 (inclusive)
- We will try to run the last competition in the remaining 2 spare weeks allocated this month. The dive location may be opened up to areas other than Mornington Peninsula (to be confirmed)

Bob Manning gave an overview of the World Freshwater Spearfishing Championships in Lake Mead, Nevada that he will be attending later this month.
It's awesome to hear that Australia will be well represented in multiple divisions, as below.

Masters division: Bob Manning, Kevin Ranger & Andy Ruddock, Gunther Pfrengle & John Schulter
Mens division: Pete & Mac Riddle, Graham Carlisle and Sam Dawson
Mixed division: Craig & Bree Fox
Ladies division: Bree Carlisle

Good luck to Bob, the Riddles, the Fox's and all Australians representing at the event!

Clint gave an overview of the Eden 3 way comp (potentially will be renamed due to interest from other states), that is planned for 10th-11th June 2017.
It's one of the most popular spearfishing events in Australia.
If you are planning on attending this event, please organise accomodation as soon as possible as it will be nearly impossible to do closer to the event dates.

Murray talked about the 105.8KG Striped Marlin that he shot out of Bermagui.
Well done Muzz. Fish of a lifetime!

Conratulations to the winners of the putting game.
1st place - Jason - Chose the slab of Carlton Draught that was donated by the Noble Park Football Club.
2nd place - Jeff - Chose the bottle of wine
3rd place - Brett - Won the BBQ

Thanks to Brendan for organising the BBQ and cooking out in the cold!

Look forward to seeing you all at the next meeting.
