Widespread Hazardous Winds, Flash Flooding and Damaging Surf

Synoptic Situation: 3:00 am EST Friday
A low off New South Wales Mid North Coast will deepen during today and then it will move slowly south-southeast during Saturday and Sunday.
This is an update of the warning issued at 3:40 pm on Friday.
Winds are expected to average over 65 km/h. [Peak wind gusts are expected to exceed 90 km/h] in coastal areas of the Hunter, Metropolitan and Illawarra.
Heavy rain is expected to cause local flash flooding in the Hunter, Metropolitan and in the southeastern parts of Central Tablelands during Friday.
Damaging surf conditions, with waves exceeding 5 metres in the surf zone, are likely to produce significant beach erosion between Newcastle and Port Hacking this afternoon, and between Port Hacking and Moruya Friday night. Water levels above the highest astronomical tide of the year are possible. Conditions possibly extending further northwards again on Saturday.
Emergency services advise you to keep clear of fallen power lines, stay indoors away from windows and keep children indoors.

Surf Life Saving Australia recommends that you stay out of the water and stay well away from surf-exposed areas.
The National Parks and Wildlife Service recommends that people consider postponing back country travel until conditions improve.
