Hi All,
The 2019 Kingfish cup was run over the weekend where initially Sunday and Monday looked to be the best days. After the comp was called on the forecast changed, but the comp was still diveable. Some decided to stay at home, regretting the decision later.
4 Pairs signed on and most fished the east half of Victoria. Some went to their own secret spots, some went to well known spots and others fished locally.
On the first day there were very good conditions across Victoria till the change came through where the wind speed increased dramatically and quickly and all divers were out of the water before the change hit. From sunrise, there was enough time to get a good dive session in chasing the kings.
There was an option for a quick dive on Monday morning, but it would have been tough diving. All the teams opted to not dive the second day and most headed down to the weigh in at Tooradin early.
At 2pm half of the competitors were there, but the only esky there was full of drinks for the bbq.
Before 3pm rolled over 1 big esky was presented and one smaller one.
The weigh in commenced and the first fish presented were for the "Most meritorious fish other than Kingfish".
Bob weighed in a 1880gm Snook and a 590gm Sea Sweep.
The only other entry for most meritorious fish was a 32cm Garfish presented by Kim, and that was just in case no one else presented a fish.
It was decided that Bob's Snook would be the awarded as the most meritorious fish other than kingfish and Bob won a 15m heavy duty floatline that was donated by Steven at
Mr Dive.

The pair of Kim and Adem had fish to present and after going on the scales, they weighed in at 8885gm and 8650gm giving the pair a combined weight of 17.535kg. Being the only pair to present Kingfish, gave them the title of 2019 Kingfish Cup Champions!
Well done to the boys for choosing to preserve the eating quality of the fish by bleeding, gutting and gilling their fish before being weighed. No doubt they would have had a few kilo's more on the scale if that wasn't done. They each won a DivePro spearfishing float/drybag.

Mr Dive for all the prizes and his continued support of the club.
Also thanks to Muzz that couldn't dive the comp, but still came to the weigh in to help out, cooked the bbq and cleaned up.
Look forward to seeing you all at the next comp!
