I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the white pointer yet. I don't have the full story so I won't tell it.

No big deal, the boaty saw it making way toward Mario and cut it of. He then quickly retrieved all his divers. None saw it in the water but they all had a good look from the boat as it loitered around for a while.

I agree, glad I heard it after the comp. Would still be an awesome sight to see from a boat, not so much in open water.

We were actually warned at the morning briefing that there was a sighting at Pambula and then the incident occured at the wreck area at Haycock Point later that day. I did notice that yakkas were very jumpy and were hugging the bottom in the first spot I dived on game day which was not too far from there.

That spot you where at Clint I call White Death Alley as I have had a report from a reliable customer of a big White swimming in and back out of that gutter a few years ago.

ok so for those who haven't heard, Hippa and myself got disqualified from the comp as we did not sign off right, which is fair enough.
so last night i added up our score sheets, Hippa had 7 species adding to 354.55 points. on my score sheet i noticed my bluethroat was not weighed either, it was a horse and we both agreed it would have been over 1.7kg but to be safe i put it down as 1.6 (make sure you watch your fish being weighed in a comp). so i finished up with 13(including the bluethroat) and 637.8points.

so if we were not disqualified i would have been in 18th position and Kyle (Hippa) in 53rd place.

it was a great comp and really enjoyed the weekend overall, and next year i will definitely be signing off right.

i would highly rate this comp for people who are interested in both comp diving and the social side of spearfishing, many great people attend and its a good chance to meet divers from different states.

Congrats to Muzza! Well deserved win after plugging away at this comp consistently for a while now.

And I must say, Trent your level of sportsmanship is admirable. I would be spitting chips after making the trip up there and getting disqualified for just not signing off right (as you say it probably is fair enough from an organizational perspective).... but still kinda rough. Especially with a decent bag of fish.
If more young people could show your level of maturity the world would be a better place!
