Calling the comp ON for Sunday.... Conditions look reasonable with 4ft is swell and an easterly wind around 10 knots, hopefully they don't change that forecast!

See you all at the Sorrento ramp early on Sunday. Comp will start at 9.00 from the 5 knot marker so be organised. Get there early for sign on with forms filled out and correct funds ($15). (Give the organisers a chance to get themselves organised). Quick briefing at 8.45 on the jetty before the start at 9.00. There are plenty of shore dives available for those that have not organised a ride.Conditions should be good . There will be a BBQ after at the weigh in.
Dont forget usual safety gear . (it will be checked)

See you all Sunday for a great days diving.
Andrew V

Another great days diving for the club. 29 divers signed on with most in boats and a few shore dives. Great weather not bad conditions on the bay and a bit of swell outside making it interesting for those that ventured out. Once again really good catches weighed in by some with some finding it rather tough.
I hear talk of a 2.5m Bronzy at Rosebud and many had those that got away experiences.
I had the plan of catching the slack at one of my favourite locations so headed off at warp factor only to find 4 boats of bubble blowers had the same idea.(Really paying for it pain wise today) So in to Rosebud for a couple of hours managing to get a couple of species then out to the first location again after the boats had left. Another couple of species in a bit of current then a quick trip outside. I headed out past Lonsdale and quickly found a really fishy area. I managed a few but ran out of time before heading back in. I made my offering of my new mask to the sea gods. Had a great days diving, found a fresh spot, caught up with plenty of people and got home ok. Thanks all for the help organising stuff.
There are a few things that did not happen as they should.
No pre dive briefing and no safety check. In future there will be no entry forms available from me. Bring your forms filled out. Entries will finish at least 20min before the start.
We still need to sort getting the weigh in under way with food ready and cold drinks but its not easy when everyone is fishing and sorting boats etc.(the new Sorrento BBQ's are still crap) Any suggestions for improving this welcome.

See you all at the meeting Tuesday.

Great turnout and great diving. Lots of interesting, quality fish- gurnard perch, ling, black drummer, flathead, whiting, queen snapper to name a few. I had a very enjoyable day on Blackys boat. We dived in deep clear water outside the heads, out wide off Queenscliff on the slack tide, and finished off in shallow water hunting flathead. These locations cant be dived without a boat. Big thanks to Blacky for taking me out, and for his boating hospitality-he even had cold beers for me when we returned! For those of us that dont have boats, thankyou to all the boat owners for letting us dive areas that we cant normally get to.
