At this months meeting we decided to run the Woolami anchored boat comp on Sunday 3rd May.

Boats will leave from Newhaven ramp then proceed to an area in one of the bays the ocean side of cape Woolami.Boats will anchor and the comp will start from the boats. Comp will finish back at the boats at the decided time . Boats will then proceed back to the Newhaven where the weigh in will be held.

Please let us know if you have a boat with some space as there will be people that need a ride .
Watch this forum for further info as it gets closer.

I have spoken with our convenor and the comp is on this Sunday.
Woolami Anchored comp starts and finishes on boats with the weigh in at the Newhaven park as soon as we can after boats return. All boats anchor in the same area where divers can swim as far as they choose. Divers must be back at the boats at the decided finish time.
Be at Newhaven early so that everyone can get organised. We would like to leave the ramp at 8.40 so that the comp can start at 9.00 from the boats . It will be a 6 hour comp unless the forecast changes.
You must sign on by 8.15 am with correct money and entry form.( No Forms provided at the start.Bring your own ) . Your safety gear (as per our rules) must be present at sign on and will be be checked . . Dont forget that you must sign off in person after returning.Sign off will finish when the first official fish is weighed at the weigh in.
At this stage we have 2 boats with a little space left so let us know if you are coming with a boat or need a ride.

Sign on will finish at 8.15. so dont be late. (a horn will sound)

No blue ute this time. Just find me for sign on

Thanks Brett for the following.

The final heat of the Southern Freedivers Aggregate was held to today at Cape Woolamai. This is an anchored boat competition where the boats are parked together and the competitors then swim off and do their thing. Fourteen competitors signed on, with nine presenting fish at the weigh in.
Conditions were very trying, with lousy visibility combined with an uncomfortable sea-state. Fish were very scarce. Several divers had unplanned and unwelcome interactions with a couple of species of the local Shark population. Others were annoyed by Seals. Someone fell out of a boat. Congratulations Murray Petersen on winning, yet another Phillip Island comp. Thanks also to those who supplied their boats and helped with the BBQ and weigh in. Reults follow.
Murray P. 9 species. 980.45 points. 100%
Brett I. 8. 877.45. 89.50%
Andrew V. 7. 772.40. 78.78%
Chris M. 7. 754.65 76.97%
Brendon W. 4. 427.26 43.57%
Scott W. 2. 215.45. 21.97%
Peter T. 2. 214.45. 21.87%
Stoj P. 2. 210.30. 21.45%
Mitch K. 1. 104.9. 10.70%

Look carefully at these names. These are the men and boys with the fortitude to dive the dirty and miserable days that sometimes come upon us. "When the going gets tough, the tough get going"
