The AUF are currently refining the rules for the nationals. A couple of perennial points which have come up again are; prohibiting torches and removing eels from the scoresheet. Can interested divers who actually dive comps please give me your opinion of this.

The removal of torches won't be happening!
The removal of eels I can see as a good thing due to their eat quality.

I don't agree with removing torches, but do think Conga's should be taken off.... After carrying a 10 kg one up a cliff ( after the wrestle with it) & the fact that hardly anyone eats them, we can't really justify keeping them. They can also completely wreck your spear!

I (and I know a lot of the top Vic divers) strongly disagree with the removal of torches. It should be based on State Regulations. IE. Can use in VIC as it is legal and how we dive. Can't use in NSW as it is illegal.

They are permitted in the World Titles and we would be disadvantaging ourselves not to promote the use of torch where permitted.
