VALDES PAIRS COMPETITION/ PAIRS COMPETITION Rules update 2015
The rules for individual spearfishing shall apply except that competitors may use any combination of one or two floats/floatline .

Float/Plat may be anchored but members of each team may not be more than thirty (30) metres away from the float/plat.

Each diver shall provide a safety watch over his/her partner. At no time will the distance between divers exceed 30m. The partner on the surface shall endeavour to maintain a visual on his/her partner at all times whilst below the surface.

Pairs divers must dive with the one-up one-down technique. Breeching this rule will result in automatic disqualification.

Mirror and whistle must be carried by each diver. (Not on float)

Club series scores for pair divers will be calculated from 4 events in the normal club series. The series score system is such that both individuals are allocated the pairs combined score for the day, giving flexibility to changing pairs throughout the season. The pairs champion is the diver/divers who have the highest score at the end of the 4 events.

Guide to new score system.
Comp 1:
Joe + Frank dive together as a pair and score 93%
Bob + Bill dive to together as a pair and score 65%

Comp 2:
Bob + Bill dive to together as a pair again and score 72%
Joe + Tom dive together as a pair and score 58%

After the two comps the rankings will be:
Joe 151%
Bob + Bill 137%
Frank 93%
Tom 58%
