Southern Freedivers are happy to announce the official start to the 2016/2017 Southern Freedivers Victorian Challenge.

This years comp will run from our September 2016 meeting (September 6th) through until the usual finish at the June 2017 club meeting (June 6th).

This 10 species competition has been successfully run for many years and continues to run as one of Southern Freedivers premier comps.Southern Freedivers club menbership together with AUF is required to enter .

The Vic Challenge ONLY targets 10 key Vic species - see above post. This will be the 14th season the VC has run.

Heaviest fish of each species gets 10 points, second heaviest 9 points, third heaviest 8 points and so on. Maximum score = 100. For those that are wishing to compete in the VC for the first time, see leaderboards from previous seasons. You'll get the idea.

This is a special comp. It is tough to win. However, many competing aren't just out to win it. Some have the goal to weigh in all 10 species, others put a wager on with a mate and see who can finish highest and others have the goal to submit a lone 10 pointer.

Fish must be taken in Vic waters. Fish must be submitted within 30 days of capture. Late submissions WILL NOT be accepted. Maximum 2 of each species to be submitted. Fish must be weighed on certified club scales. This season will see a set of certified scales at every SFD club meeting and weigh points with Brett Illingworth (Peninsula) ph 0439881958, Paul Blackborrow (Geelong) ph 0416167604, Geoff Gannon (Melb) Ph 0433444400.

Preferred method to submit fish is via a PM on the forum to VictorianChallenge.

A leaderboard will be put up under this post before each monthly meeting.

After a slow start with no entries in the first month, the fish (and weather) are finally starting to play ball. Just to make things hard on everyone Watto and Jon have put some contenders for ten point fish on the board already. Get out there and find some fish.

Some good fish coming now the water is warming up. Watto jumps further into the lead with a good cray, and Bobbie ties for second with a month of fish.

The first update for 2017, the fish are starting to come in now with new entrant Chris jumping into third place with some good scoring fish, and the race for first closing to three points. The first of the big green fish has come in as well.

Some quality fish are getting around this time of year, and a few are getting weighed in. Kim putting in a great kingie that might hold onto the ten points, and Watto firming up his lead with a 3.6 kg cray

It's the height of the season now if you can find a spot out of the wind. Muzz sneaks into second place with a quality haul from a single days dive.

The board is starting to fill out now. Stoj sneaks away with 2x ten point additions, the snook might last a little longer than the snapper

Not long to go now, Watto manages to grab all ten species with the help of a few tiddlers. Stoj's snapper somehow survives the month at ten points. Get your entries in soon.
