Comp 3 (aggregate 2) Harmer Haven (shore dive)
With low swells predicted and a spare comp day on the calendar we were able to catch up on Comp 3 on our calendar that had previously been postponed.
Comp was called on at Harmers Haven which hadn't been dived in 7+years.
We had 15 divers (13 competing) turn up including 3 Juniors and couple of others that had a social dive Jess (Scott Kelly's better half) and Rhino a blast from the past.
Conditions were overcast with few light showers during the day but there was little to no swell and only later on during the day did the swell increase.
Underneath the water, conditions were average. Vis was patchy as low as 3-5m in close, but as you got out further it was hazy 10+m in some areas. And as for fish life there was not a lot choices.....but no problem finding Maggie's, Bluethroats, stingrays, eaglerays & the odd wobbie.
Scores were low with Fitzy taking out 1st prize with 7 species. Well done. And then there was 6 competitors, many who thought they had more species that ended up fighting it out for 2nd place with 5 species
Special mentions to Kaylah Charles who did quite well in her first comp in tough conditions shooting a couple of good fish (hope to see you compete in future comps) and newcomer Richie in his 2nd official comp finally getting some weighable species on the board weighing in 4 species. Well done.
