The Newhaven Boat Comp has been called ON for Sunday (24/03).
The meeting point is at the Newhaven Boat Ramp at 8am.

The competition will start at 9am with sign off finishing at 3.00 back at the ramp.
Late returners will be disqualified. For all competition rules, please refer to the competitions section of the forum.

Sign on for this comp will finish at 8.30am.
Please bring your entry forms filled out (if you haven’t done so already) with the correct money ( $15 and $5 Junior). (Forms from me will be $5 each).

For boat owners, it is recommended that you arrive early to beat the rush at the boat ramp.

A safety check will be performed to ensure all divers have the required safety equipment.
There are plenty of safe shore dives available for those without a boat ride.

Comp is open to all AUF members however SFD membership is required to score points for the Southern Freedivers club aggregate.

Look forward to seeing you all on Sunday

The Newhaven boat comp was held on Sunday 24/3. There was a great turnout with 20 divers signing on.

There was a bit of chop for the morning shootout however the wind and swell was predicted to drop around midday (which it did). As usual, it was Murray’s boat leading the pack closely followed by 3 Jetskis. Most boats started close to shore around Cape Woolamai and some ventured out to pyramid rock, the long run proving bountiful.

As predicted the wind and sell dropped and the visibility increased to around 8 meters out the back and even better on the inside of Woolamai. In the last hour many boats made use of the incoming tide by drifting for flathead along the channel.

Murray ended up winning the day with 17 species, a solid score.
Big thanks to everyone who helped organise the comp and to Murray for cooking the BBQ. Thanks to Watto for doing the weigh in.
