Hi All,

The Sorrento Boat Comp has been called ON for Sunday (17/11).

Sign on for this comp will finish at 8.30am at the bottom car park. No late entries will be accepted.
The competition will start at 9am with sign off finishing at 3.00 back at the ramp.

NOTE: Each diver must sign off individually by 3pm, with the exception of the skipper of each boat. Another diver from their boat can sign them off.
This is to ensure there are minimal boats moored to the boat ramp.
People on Jetski's must sign off individually as they are able to anchor in the shallows away from the boat ramp.

For all competition rules, please refer to the competitions section of the forum.
Please bring your entry forms filled out with the correct money ( $15 and $5 Junior). (Forms from me will be $5 each).

For boat owners, it is recommended that you arrive EARLY to beat the rush at the boat ramp.

A safety check will be performed to ensure all divers have the required spearfishing safety equipment.
Boat owners will be responsible for their boats safety equipment.
There are safe shore dives available in the bay for those without a boat ride.

Comp is open to all AUF members however SFD membership is required to score points for the Southern Freedivers club aggregate.

Reminder to please look after your catch. Please present your fish on ice, preferably in an esky.

Also, remember only 1 fish of each species can be presented for weighing. A penalty will be given to any fish 25% underweight.

Look forward to seeing you all on Sunday!

On Sunday southern Freedivers held the annual Sorrento Boat comp in southern PPb.
With another fishing competition scheduled for the same weekend accompanied by the first decent weather in weeks most boats turned up bright and early around 7:30. Of cause there was the usual banter between Bob and anyone with a Jet Ski but it seemed that everyone was super keen and excited to hit the water. Everyone except Marcus, who had a good time the night before.

After a quick safety briefing all the JetSkis quickly took to the front with most boats heading Rye and Rosebud. The south westerly winds made it a smooth start but produced some decent chop further out. Reports of visibility varied from 10m to mud around the bay.

Some divers were out by 1:00 due to sickness or cold. Thanks to Russel who voluntarily returned early to start the BBQ. All divers returned in time and in good spirits.

The weigh in was undertaken in the top carpark. There were some very nice fish taken including a number of bream, good squid and a solid flathead by Spencer. There were also some oddballs presented including a Common Gurnard from Abel and a Stargazer from Mitch. It was great to see some people come down for the weigh in who weren’t competing

Overall a great time had by all. Big thank you to everyone who help get everything together behind the scenes. Thanks to Russel for cooking the BBQ and to Mitch for doing the weighing. Shoutout to Pete Riddle who came from port fairy to join the fun and ended up taking out the day.

The final scores are as follows:
