Hey guys.

We’ve got a comp planned for this weekend. At this stage we’re looking at holding a northern bay boat comp. Location and final call will be made on Thursday.

Hey guys
The Brighton boat comp has been called ON for Sunday 21/3. Please be at the North road boat ramp in Brighton before 8:30 for sign on for a 9am start. Please bring your complete entry form plus entry fee ($15 seniors and $5 juniors). There will be a bbq and drinks at the end.
Note that it could be very busy at the ramp so it’s advised that you arrive much earlier than 8:30. We won’t be taking late sign ons.

Hi All,

With less than favorable conditions, we held a boat comp today out of Brighton. Few were game to dive in the strong easterlies, but the top of the bay was a bit calmer and we had 3 boats and 1 jetski with 6 divers signing on. After launching, the comp was started just after 9 out past the 5 knot zone. The Jetski took off and didn't see any of the other boats all day. Most didn't venture far initially but one of the boats went towards the bottom of the bay, had engine woes when getting there and ended up limping into Martha Cove and ending the divers day prematurely.

Some good species were around although light on numbers, with pinkies and salmon being the most abundant fish seen (no salmon taken though). The wind was a bit stronger just below beaumaris and had more southerly in it, making it too choppy to dive there. Divers reported 2-3m vis towards the top of the bay and 5-6m further south. One diver had 6m+ vis for most of the day with 10m visibility in one spot making it hard to sneak up on the pinkies.

We were greeted with a really low tide at the ramp on the way in and the safer option was to winch the boats onto their trailers rather than driving on.

Most divers weighed in a few fish each and then Blake presented his catch and he scored more than the other divers combined. Well done Blake on doing so well in tough conditions and getting a few fish that aren't commonly seen in comps even outside the bay.

See below for the final scores for the comp.

Blake Riddle 8 species 962.5 pts 100%
Kurt Beckley 2 species 239.4 pts 24.87%
Stoj Pavlovski 2 species 198.69 pts (penalty) 20.64%
Kade Beckley 1 species 109.04pts 11.32%

The most notable fish of the day were both from Blake and they were a 436g Warehou and a 734g Deep body Leatherjacket

Thanks to Bob who organised the sign on/off and to Kim for coming down to do the scoring even though he was sick and couldn't dive.
