The Vic Challenge is underway for another season. Some good squid getting around at the moment and a few people have got onto the 1kg+ models. A few early season flatties have been weighed in. Some salmon are starting to show up so now is a good time to get out there and chase them. See below for the leader board!

Hi All, There were lots of flatties weighed in at the Sorrento Boat, Club Series dive. Brendon got a 1.89kg flathead on that dive and used it to upsize his vic challenge flatty. Stoj also submitted his 1.17kg flatty to join the leader board. Andrew is still at the top with his 4 species. Now is the perfect time to look for Vic challenge species, as they're almost all on offer at this time of year. See below for the updated leader board. Vic Challenge Update It's been a while since we had an update to the leaderboard. Since the last update we've had Western Districts club series dive. There have been a few fish submitted for the Vic Challenge in the past 2 months. Brendon submitted a crayfish, squid and a nice sea sweep and has taken the top of the leader board from Andrew. Kim got a 510gm Trevally, moving him up to 3rd place. The fitzy boys submitted their flatties from the sorrento club series dive and Alan has moved above Darragh, possibly creating a family rivalry. Odie has joined the leaderboard with a good size salmon at 1.8kg and Stoj submitted his 586gm King George Whiting, moving him up to 4th place. Looking forward to seeing what fish are submitted in the next month while the water is still warm. Dive safe and happy hunting!

Hi All, There were a fair few fish submitted recently for the Vic Challenge. Good to see divers getting involved in such an awesome challenge. Kurt and Kade joined the leaderboard and are on equal points, possibly creating another family rivalry. Both submitted a squid and snook each. Stoj submitted the first kingfish of the season from a social dive. Alan Salek has joined the leaderboard with a good size flatty and a cracker 1.1kg sea sweep from the Newhaven Club Series boat dive. From the same day, Kaylah submitted a good size flatty that was only 60gm lighter than Alans fish. She also submitted a 350gm whiting, that was 10gm over the minimum whiting size for the challenge. Odie submitted a flatty and an almost 1.1kg sea sweep, taking 9 points for that fish. Brett joined the leader board with a cracker 3kg snook and a sea sweep from the Newhaven boat dive. Andrew submitted a sea sweep which allowed him to retain 2nd on the leaderboard. Kim submitted his sweep, snapper and whiting from the Western Districts club series dive, which rocketed him to the top of the leaderboard. His whiting was 740gm and is the heaviest whiting submitted so far. Brendon submitted a snook putting him in 3rd place and only 2 points behind Andrew. With a few months to go in the Vic challenge, there are plenty of species on offer across Victoria and a good chance to advance up the leaderboard, or even just get involved in the challenge. Looking forward to seeing what is submitted in the next month. Dive safe and remember to always dive with a float and flag. Vic Challenge Update With 2 months to go on the current seasons Vic Challenge, the contest is heating up with a few good submissions since the last update. Brendon upsized his snook to a 1.9kg fish. Pierre also submitted a snook at 1.8kg, joining the leaderboard. Jason submitted his 645gm sweep and 890gm Snook to also join in on the challenge. Kurt submitted a 1.8kg salmon, being the heaviest submitted so far. Stoj submitted his 760gm Sweep and 1kg Snook from the State Titles. Kurt and Kade both submitted a sweep each from the State titles at 815gm and 600gm respectively. Brendon submitted a 1.3kg cray being the only crayfish submitted so far and has moved Brendon up to 2nd place on the leader board. Even though the weather has cooled down, the water hasn't cooled much. so now is the perfect time to target these species before the water gets too cold and some of the fish disappear. Safe diving and look forward to seeing the submissions in the remaining months of the challenge.

Hi All, Just a reminder the last day to submit fish for the Vic Challenge is Tuesday 13th June. There are still a good number of species around that you can target and the upcoming long weekend is a perfect opportunity to go for a dive if the conditions are right. |
