Hi All,
Southern Freedivers held a Club Series Dive on the weekend from Sorrento. There were 3 boats and 1 Jetski with 6 divers signed on. With the forecast for larger swell outside the heads and low winds locally, all divers stayed within Port Pillip. There was a fair bit of current in some spots that made them undiveable but there were areas that didn't have as much current. The water was mirky in the morning and cleanded up after the change of tide. Almost all divers got a flounder which was amazing to see. Some flounder had chunks taken out of them where they had been bitten by something and had healed over. Odie's 600gm flounder was the biggest for the day. There were only a few flathead seen/taken and there were lots of small king george whiting seen. There were some good Six Spine leatherjackets around and a few good size fish were weighed in. Some very flighty bream were seen and Stoj managed to get a 725gm fish. Brett even managed to come accross a school of small gummies that ended up being too flighty to get close to. All divers made it back to the ramp by 3pm and everyone had an enjoyable day on the water. Stoj ended up taking out the day with 5 fish, with 3 fish being the next best score. Thanks to all that helped organise the event! See below for the final scores.
